Roagna is one of Northern Italy's most respected and traditional family wineries, deeply rooted in the historic Piedmont wine region, particularly Barbaresco and Barolo. The Roagna family made wine in Barbaresco long before the official classification of the DOCG areas in the late 19th century, and since then the estate has become a reference for those seeking classic Nebbiolo wines that show true terroir expression. The history of Roagna dates back to the 1800s, but the modern era truly began in the 20th century when the family acquired its historic vineyards such as Pajé and later also parcels in Castiglione Falletto (Pira). These parcels lie on very calcareous soils with deep history and form the basis of their distinctive, long-lived wines. Today, Luca Roagna heads the estate, where he continues the family tradition with his father Alfredo. Luca represents the fifth generation and took over cellar management around 2001. He combines respect for tradition with a personal vision of vinification and terroir.
Description: The aroma shows a complex palette of red fruits like cherries and raspberries, along with classic Nebbiolo aromas of violets, rose petals, tobacco, spices, and sometimes slight tar or earthy notes. The structure is elegant yet layered, with lively acidity, fine, well-integrated tannins, and a long, precise finish where fruit, herbs, and mineral hints linger.
Pairs well with: Roasted Ribeye with fries, rabbit or wild poultry in a spicy sauce, leg of lamb with Mediterranean herbs, semi-aged cheeses such as Fontina, Taleggio, or aged Pecorino
