Roagna is one of the most respected and traditional family wineries in Northern Italy, deeply rooted in the historic Piedmont wine region, particularly Barbaresco and Barolo. The Roagna family made wine in Barbaresco long before the official classification of the DOCG areas in the late 19th century, and since then, the estate has become a benchmark for those seeking classic Nebbiolo wines that showcase true terroir expression. Roagna's history dates back to the 1800s, but the modern era truly began in the 20th century when the family acquired its historic vineyards such as Pajé and later also plots in Castiglione Falletto (Pira). These plots are located on very calcareous soils with deep history and form the basis of their distinctive, long-lived wines. Today, Luca Roagna heads the estate, where he continues the family tradition with his father Alfredo. Luca represents the fifth generation and took over in the cellar around 2001. He combines respect for tradition with a personal vision of vinification and terroir.

Description: Complex palate of ripe red cherries and plums, combined with cedarwood, tobacco, herbs, and earthy notes reminiscent of an autumn walk in the woods. These aromas are confirmed on the palate: the lively, characteristic acidity of Barbera provides energy, the fine tannins and mineral structure add depth, and the finish is long, fresh, and elegant with nuances of red fruit and soft spices

Pairs well with: Rack of lamb/leg of lamb with rosemary and garlic, mushroom and truffle risotto, pizza with salami or prosciutto, Pecorino or Gorgonzola

Fun fact: Some things never change, namely the well-considered traditional approach in the vineyards and cellars, which translates into a late harvest, the exclusive use of natural yeasts, extensive skin contact for up to 90 days, and thorough aging in large wooden barrels. Together with the exceptional terroirs owned by the estate, all the ingredients are present for a success story.
