The founder of modern Riecine is John Dunkley, an English gentleman who, based on the Sangiovese grape, is one of the most admired modern producers. Together with his wife Palmina Abbagnano, John bought the original 1.5 hectares of land from the neighbouring monastery Badia a Coltibuono in 1971. Together, they began renovating the old stone villa, then reviving the old plants and planting new vines. The first vintage of Chianti Classico, 1973, was released in 1975.
Description: Depth with high intensity and harmonious acidity, ripe cherries and a long finish.

Fun fact: For the Riecine di Riecine, only the best, most stony soils on the higher elevated plots (400-500 meters) and only the oldest (45 years) vines are selected.
