Marc started in the municipality of Zellenberg about 25 years ago. He bought an ancient wine estate (built in the 18th century) against the foothills of the Vosges. In 1995, Tempé invested in large oak foudres, ranging from small to almost 6000 liters. Marc loves tradition. He is very clear about this when it comes to winemaking as well. To put it in his own words: "Zéro trucage" (No trickery). Everything is done with minimal intervention and as few machines as possible. The only machine on the estate is the press. Some wines are released relatively late, for the simple reason that they ferment and mature in foudres for more than 2 years. The use of sulfites is minimal; only a small amount of sulfites is added before bottling to protect the wine.
Description: Powerful yet subtle, volume, mushroom, hazelnut, and mineral.
Pairs well with: Asian dishes, fish, and BBQ chicken.
Fun fact: This estate works 100% biodynamically and is among the best that Alsace has to offer.
