Jean-Charles Fournet invests everything he earns as a radiologist in the hospital into his chateau just outside Condrieu. As a wine lover, he regularly hosted renowned winemakers like Vernay, Chave, and Gangloff, who advised him to make optimal use of his terroir. With the same passionate surgical precision, some might call it neurotic, he now cultivates 7 hectares of Syrah, Viognier, and Roussanne. Aided by the famous Claude and Lydia Bourguignon, he produces brilliant, clear, pure, elegant, complex wines. Enthusiastically organic. Extremely high concentration with minimal yields.
Description: 90% Viognier, 10% Roussanne, mica schist terroir at 370m altitude, fermentation and aging in wood. Pure, introverted, elegant, clear, ripe apricot, length and finesse.
Pairs well with: Chicken with cream sauce, zucchini with green asparagus by Tomas (chef Zoldering), ajo blanco
Fun fact: The quartz-containing mica schist terroir can be found in the famous Côte Brune of Côte-Rôtie, but there Syrah is planted instead of Viognier, making this a completely different expression of the same type of terroir.
