Le Devay Condrieu 2023

Jean-Charles Fournet invests everything he earns as a radiologist at the hospital into his château just outside Condrieu. As a wine lover, he regularly hosts top winemakers like Vernay, Chave, and Gangloff, who advised him to make the most of his terroir. With the same passionate surgical precision, some might call it neurotic, he now cultivates 7 hectares of Syrah, Viognier, and Roussanne. Aided by the renowned Claude and Lydia Bourguignon, he produces brilliant, clear, pure, elegant, complex wines. Enthusiastically organic. Extremely high concentration with minimal yields. 

Description: Condrieu as you want it, namely drinkable. Savory, ripe, salt and pepper, impression of soft acidity, full and elegant at the same time, length. Solid.

Pairs well with: Lobster is, of course, a classic with bisque and saffron, but also consider vegetable barigoule or sweetbreads with tarragon and snap peas.

Fun fact: Jean-Charles officially buys the grapes for his Condrieu, but helps the farmer in the vineyard and with the harvest so that everything goes exactly as Jean-Charles wants it to. Despite his own work, he has to pay no less than 10 euros per kilo of grapes for this. That gives you a bit more understanding of the price.
