Lafont Blanco is the project of winemaker Lluís Llunell in La Font de la Figuera in the Valencia region. On his small plots, he cultivates the almost forgotten Malvasía Riojana grape using biodynamic methods — an autochthonous variety that historically occurred in the region but was almost extinct. The wine combines aromatic expression with a dry, mineral structure thanks to the high-altitude, calcareous soils.
Description: Golden yellow and aromatic, with aromas of white flowers, lychee, ginger, ripe pear, and a fresh minerality. Broad in the mouth, with a balanced acidity and a long, aromatic finish.
Pairs well with: Grilled fish, creamy rice dishes, Asian stir-fries, or as a surprising aperitif wine.
Fun fact: Malvasía Riojana is an old Iberian grape variety that is not related to the well-known Malvasia family and is hardly found outside its small home region. Llunell preserves it with his wine as a living piece of culinary heritage.
