La Comarcal is a young but impressive wine project from the Valencia region, Spain, founded in 2017 by two winemaker friends: Javi Revert and Victor Marqués. Both have made their mark in the Spanish wine world and found common ground in their shared vision: to make pure wines with a strong expression of their origin, without unnecessary frills. The name La Comarcal refers to "the region," and that's precisely what it's all about: local grapes, local soils, and local climatic influences. Their vineyards are located at significant altitudes (up to 700 meters) in villages such as Venta del Moro and La Font de la Figuera, where nights are cool and the soils are rich in lime and clay – ideal conditions for making fresh, lively wines with beautiful acidity and minerality.
Description: Pure and refined, fresh fruit, juicy, aromatic wild herbs, licorice.
Pairs well with: Lamb chops, stewed chicken with olives, chorizo sausage, roasted peppers.
Fun fact: Javi and Victor work entirely organically and with minimal intervention in the cellar. They only use natural yeasts and avoid excessive use of oak. Instead, they ferment in concrete, steel, or old barrels to preserve the purity of the fruit and the freshness of the wine. Each cuvée is treated separately to express the character of the grape and vineyard as precisely as possible.
