The House was founded in Reims in 1843 by Joseph Krug, a visionary nonconformist with an uncompromising philosophy. Having understood that the true essence of champagne is pleasure itself, it was his dream to create the very best champagne he could offer each year, regardless of annual climatic fluctuations. By paying close attention to the character of the vineyard, respecting the individuality of each plot and the wine, and building an extensive library of reserve wines from many different years, Joseph Krug was able to realise his dream.
