Dominus Estate, by the famous winemaker and CEO Christian Moueix (Pétrus, Trotanoy etc.), is part of the historic Napanook monument and is believed to be one of the first vineyards planted (in 1836) in Napa Valley, California. It was acquired in 1946 by legendary winemaker and visionary John Daniels and passed to his daughters in 1970. In 1982, they partnered with Christian Moueix to create Dominus Estate. The wines, especially those from the last 25 years, taste like a serious Bordeaux Grand Cru, but also possess the ripe fruit characteristics of Napa Valley. To be more specific: a Napa terroir, but with a Bordeaux spirit.
Description: Notes of red and black berries, cedar, tobacco leaf, spice box and liquorice.
Pairs well with: Wild boar, beef, lamb.
Fun fact: This wine has excellent ageing potential. It can continue to mature for up to 40 years after harvest, developing additional layers of flavour and texture.
