Domaine Faillenc is a small organic winery in the Corbières region, Languedoc, run by the Gibert family. The vineyards are situated on steep, chalky terraces around the foot of Mont Alaric, in a dry climate influenced by both the Tramontane and Autan winds, which ensures plenty of drought, sun, and pronounced day/night differences. The current owner is Jean-Baptiste Gibert; he took over from his parents (Dominique and Marie-Thérèse) and has brought the vineyards under organic certification and further developed production.
Description: Dark forest fruit, floral, peppery spice, elegant and powerful at the same time, generous, rich, warm finish.
Pairs well with: lamb ragout, pork shoulder, game, risotto with pumpkin and porcini mushrooms.
Fun fact: The estate has a long history: traces of a Roman winery have been found on the site, indicating that viticulture has been practiced here for centuries.
