Patrick gained wine experience in London, including as a sommelier at Claridges and then for 5 years in wine shops. After that, he returned to his old hometown of Reims to become an export manager at Gosset. He did that for 10 years until 2010. After that, he and his wife Sophie started a company exporting French wine. In 2015, while looking for new domains to export, they were offered 5 ha of vineyard in the Château-Chalon appellation. Domaine des Carlines was born.

Fun fact: Macvin du Jura is a liqueur wine from the Jura wine region, made from grape must and Marc. Since November 1991, it has had the protected designation of origin AOC. Marc is a French eau de vie du vigneron. It is a distillate of fermented remnants of pressed grapes including stems and seeds.
