The modern-classic success story of the graduated son who convinces his father to leave the cooperative and make his own wine. What's special is that Laurent Combier debuted in 1989 with a vineyard that had already been organically maintained for twenty years. Perfectly healthy Syrah vines (with low yields) that had never been mistreated by artificial fertilizer, insecticide, or harvesting machines. When you walk through his vineyards with Laurent, you can just see it. Those aren't grapes hanging there. Those are fruits. With his first harvest in 1990, he was directly promoted to the top league of the northern Rhône. He scored high at Gault/Millau's Syrah Olympiad and was the discovery of the Revue de Vin de France.
