Domaine Bachey-Legros is a family business in Santenay, Southern Burgundy, run by Christiane Bachey-Legros and her children, now in its third generation. The domain owns 16 hectares spread from Pommard to Maranges, largely organically cultivated. Maranges is a modest but rapidly emerging appellation at the very south of the Côte de Beaune, on limestone-clay soils. The Maranges Le Goty is a Pinot Noir from the eponymous plot: aged in a mix of older and new barriques for a classic, balanced Burgundy.
Description: Vibrant ruby red with aromas of red cherry, raspberry, spices, and a hint of oak. Elegant and precise on the palate, with fine tannins, fresh acidity, and a clean, juicy finish.
Pairs well with: Burgundian stew, coq au vin, veal, or aged softer cheeses.
Fun fact: Maranges was historically marketed as 'Côte de Beaune-Villages', but gained its own appellation status in 1989 — a recognition that finally reflects the region's quality potential.
