Château Tirecul La Gravière is the reference domain of the Monbazillac appellation, located on the Dordogne in the Périgord. Claudie and Bruno Bilancini leased the historic estate in 1992 and purchased it five years later. Bruno, trained as an oenologist, organically cultivates his 16 hectares on chalk and clay-rich soils. The grapes are selectively harvested multiple times to pick only the best botrytis-affected grapes. The Cuvée Château is their classic Monbazillac: a blend of Sémillon and Muscadelle, aged in French oak for a opulent sweet wine of great complexity.
Description: Golden yellow to amber, rich and expressive with aromas of honey, candied apricot, orange peel, and a refined oak touch. Sweet, full-bodied, and creamy on the palate, with fresh acidity offering perfect balance and an endlessly long finish.
Pairs well with: Foie gras, Roquefort, crème brûlée, exotic fruit, or a rich goose liver terrine.
Fun fact: In the 17th and 18th centuries, Monbazillac wines were sold at the same price as Sauternes. Tirecul La Gravière is still considered the absolute benchmark of the appellation today.
