The chateau was bought in 1946 by George Thienpont. At the time, the estate was in a dilapidated state and was renovated by George. The vineyards were also in poor condition and had been almost completely destroyed after the war. In the 1970s, the vineyards were almost entirely replanted with grapes. The first harvest from these vines came in 1983. This was already under the leadership of Nicolas Thienpont, George's son. He took over the management of the winery in the 1980s. Under his leadership, it was decided in 1981 to focus on the production of high-quality wine. This was successful and brought recognition to the winery and the region.
Description: Black cherry, blackberry jam, licorice, leather, rich and powerful.
Pairs well with: Wild boar, deer, bavette.
Fun fact: The next generation of the family is already ready to take over. Nicolas and his son-in-law Cyrille now run the business together.
