Château Montrose is considered one of the most prestigious châteaux in the Médoc, especially since the affluent brothers Martin and Olivier Bouygues acquired the château in 2006 and embarked on a rigorous 'renovation'. They tackled everything, from the vineyard to the cellar. The team was also strengthened, including Hervé Berland, who left his position as director at Château Mouton-Rothschild to lead this ambitious project. Since then, the quality has soared, and for the past few vintages, Château Montrose has consistently ranked among the very best wines of Bordeaux.
Description: Black fruit, violets, great structure, full-bodied, spicy with firm tannins.
Pairs well with: Ribeye, steak, Côte de Boeuf.
Fun fact: Part of the significant quality improvement is a 'parcel-by-parcel' approach, where the vineyard is divided into many small plots, each of which is individually assessed, vinified, and aged.
