The estate has been in the same family for five generations. The current owner's grandfather bought the first vineyards in the area known as "le gravier" (the gravelly soil). Christophe Landry took over in 1995 and still manages the estate himself, continuing his family's tradition but with a modern, natural approach to winemaking. Château des Graviers has been organically certified since around 2012 and increasingly works biodynamically. No chemical herbicides are used in the vineyards, and much attention is paid to biodiversity, natural soil balance, and vine health.
Description: ripe red and black fruit, such as blackberries and black cherry, balanced with light raspberry accents, soft, fine-grained and elegant, no harsh structure, rather velvety, medium-to-full body
Pairs well with: Game dishes, Ribeye from the BBQ, duck breast with a red fruit sauce, mushroom risotto
Fun fact: The estate covers approximately 13 ha of vineyards, a significant portion of which is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, plus smaller plots of Petit Verdot, Malbec, and even Carménère — all permitted red Bordeaux grape varieties.
