Alfredo is originally an established and renowned architect from Barcelona with an enormous passion for wine. In 2001, he made his dream come true and bought 'Portal del Priorat' in Priorat. An enormous 40-hectare estate that, after extensive restoration and replanting of the vineyards, is completely ready for the future. The estate is located between the villages of El Lloar, El Molar, and Bellmunt del Priorat. Together with Ricardo Rofes, a former winemaker for Alvaro Palacios, Alfredo made his first wine in 2007. Portal del Priorat is located in the classic part of Priorat. It has a warm climate, llicorella soils (slate), and every year Alfredo and his team plant a new vineyard.
Description: Powerful, deep, and pure. Ripe fruit, cassis, and notes of liquorice and bay leaf with soft tannins.
Pairs well with: Fine cut of tender red meat, potato dishes.
Fun fact: Alfredo has planted a vineyard with vermentino, pinot noir, chardonnay, viognier, and albariño, the latter of which even performs very well on llicorella at around 900 meters altitude.
