Alberto Orte makes wine in different parts of Spain, especially Jerez, Rioja, and Valdeorras. Born in Madrid, he was already found in vineyards in his youth, picking grapes at family estates and at his parents' company in Montilla Moriles. In Jerez, he now has 16 hectares of vineyards; in Rioja, he buys fruit from selected vineyards. Organic winemaking is very normal for Alberto; he also applies biodynamic principles. One of Alberto's great interests is finding (almost) extinct local grape varieties, such as Tintilla and Vijiriega. In Jerez alone, he has discovered more than 200 clones and 22 unknown grape varieties.

Fun fact: Tintilla is the blue grape variety for albariza soil and shares DNA with Graciano from Rioja
