Alberto Orte makes wine in different parts of Spain, especially Jerez, Rioja and Valdeorras. Born in Madrid, he was already to be found in vineyards in his youth, picking grapes at family estates and at his parents' company in Montilla Moriles. In Jerez he now has 16 hectares of vineyards; in Rioja he buys fruit from selected vineyards. Organic winemaking is very normal for Alberto, and he also applies biodynamic principles. One of Alberto's great interests is finding (almost) extinct local grape varieties, such as Tintilla and Vijiriega. In Jerez alone, he has discovered more than 200 clones and 22 unknown grape varieties.
Description: Average age 8 years, richer Fino, almond, chamomile, salty and intense.
Goes well with: Cheese, nutty desserts, charcuterie.
Fun fact: In the cellar, each vineyard is fermented separately so that the typicality of climate, soil and grape variety receives full attention. Only native yeasts are used, and work is done with concrete tanks, stainless steel and (large) old wood.
