Richard was once a Master Sommelier, but in 2020 he voluntarily returned that title due to his dissatisfaction with the direction of the wine world he was active in. Together they settled in Australia's Barossa Valley, where they discovered an overgrown block of old, dry-farmed Grenache vines on the sandy soils of Vine Vale, planted between 1860 and 1880, and they pulled out all the stops to revive this almost forgotten vineyard.
